Cave Story
Downloaded Cave Story + off Steam about a week ago and I've been playing the hell out of it. Takes me back to my SNES days. I haven't been paying too much attention to the storyline, but judging by the amount of time I spend mashing the X button to skip through dialogue, it's got quite a plot to it.
This is me blasting the shit out of some evil-skull-bastard thing.
As far as game play goes, this is a classic platformer with loads of variety to keep things exciting. There are lots of different weapons, and one of the best aspects of the game, in my opinion, is that enemies drop these little nacho-lookin' things when you kill them that give your weapons experience points. When your weapons get enough points they level up. Each rank not only gives your weapon more power, but makes it behave differently as well. For example, when you get the machine gun to level 3, it pushes you upwards when you shoot pointing down:
Finally, a gun that let's you fly!
Another nice part of the game (as with any good platformer) is that there's a shitload of different enemies, each very unique, and every so often there's a fairly challenging boss battle. This game deserves a longer review, but this is all I'm gonna write for now.
All in all Cave Story gets 8/10 Sam Points.
